There are many different work at home opportunities and it’s up to you to choose the best one for you. If you have any skills with computers, then working online from home is going to be a piece of cake for you. There are lots of people that pay for support online for their websites/computers/etc. You could either work online from home for yourself by freelancing, or you could take up an online job.

Online jobs can be a bit boring, but are a great source of income nevertheless. You could work as a moderator at certain forums that offer pay for that position. Or you could work as a live support person for many of the webhosting companies online. These companies need people to work from them but don’t really need them to be at the office, so you could take that job and just do it from home. The problem with taking an online job to earn money is that you don’t really decide how much you’re going to earn or when you’re going to work, which pretty much makes the whole point of working online worthless.

The other way to work from home online is to work by yourself. You can either build websites that offer services and make money from those services, or you could freelance and offer your time and expertise in exchange for a part-time salary. Most people prefer to freelance since it gives them the chance to choose which projects they take and how much they charge for their work. Other prefer to build their own services and websites and earn money directly from them. Freelancing will provide you with the startup income you need to work on websites that are usually long term projects.

If you have a real job and want to quit so you can go work online from home, then I suggest you think long and hard about your decision. Making money online is a risky business, one day you might be making thousands and the next day you may be hunting for pennies. That’s how it is with the Internet. If you don’t like taking risks and just prefer the safety of getting your paycheck every month, then earning money online from home is not for you. However, if taking risks is right up your alley, then the Internet is just for you! Before you go and hand in your resignation letter though, make sure you’ve started to make a constant income online and have enough saved in your bank account in case something goes wrong. Unless you’ve got sources of passive income, then the cash flow stops as soon as you stop working, so be careful and choose wisely!

Do you have certain skills first of all? If you don’t, earning quick cash online is going to be quite a pretty hard thing to do. I’m not saying it’s going to be impossible, but not easy. On the other hand, if you know HTML, CSS, Photoshop, or all those other geeky things, then bringing home the bacon isn’t going to be a problem for you.

I assume you will have a decent knowledge of the English language and know how to write good….sorry, I mean write well. The Internet is driven by primarily driven by content, which also happens to make lots of money. (The more content your site has the more people it’s going to get. More people equal more $$$). Anyways, lots of people online are looking for decent English-speaking people to write articles for them. So if English happens to be your first language, congratulations, you just found a way to make a few hundred dollars per month. Go to Google and search for “freelance writing jobs” and behold the vast amount of people looking for writers online. Click on one of the results and start your search for people that need you. Once you get started there’s nothing that can make you slow down.

Now, for you nerds, you’ve got it a bit easier. Since you HTML and CSS, you’re geared up to make your own website and everything that goes with it. Most of you will know how to whip up a logo or template albeit a bit cheesy. You can then promote your website using articles or comments and put up AdSense ads to earn money from it. Of course if you want to make any money that will be enough to pay for a movie ticket, you’re going to have to do quite a bit of promotion and might even start flipping websites for money! Or…you could head over to one of the many freelance websites and see which projects suit your taste. Many people are willing to pay $200-500 for a decent WordPress theme, so if you know a bit of PHP, HTML, CSS, and know how to slice up Photoshop, you may just have found your calling!

Like I said at the beginning, make money online from home isn’t easy, and despite what many will tell you, there is no magic pill, but with a bit of hard work you will definitely be able to make a bit of cash on the side!

The Internet makes it possible for these huge businesses to get tons of feedback from different types of people all around the country and pay lots of money to do so. There are many survey websites that have partnerships with these companies and pay you every time you try out a product or take a survey after reading about or using one of their products. You won’t be able retire from the money you make online taking surveys, but you will make enough cash to make the whole process worth your while.

There are lots and lots of survey sites online that it gets pretty hard to distinguish the legit ones from the scams. Luckily, the best ones usually have positive reviews from many websites and make them easy to spot. You will need to set aside at least an hour every day if you want to make some cash by taking surveys online. First you will need to go sign up to an established and well-known survey site that has positive reviews and a wide range of topics. Just search Google for “site name” reviews and you will get your answer. Once you’ve signed up to these sites, I recommend you setup a new email account and purchase a prepaid telephone number which you will use to sign up for offers or surveys on the survey site.

Many people don’t like making money online taking surveys since they claim that there inboxes get hundreds of spam messages from these companies that promote a bunch of other offers and products. But…if you play it right and create a separate identity for yourself when signing up to these sites, you will be able to save yourself the trouble caused by the all the spam you get.

You might also want to make a new credit card just for taking surveys and singing up for offers. Many of these survey websites will tell you to pay a trial fee for a product before you can test it out and it’s your responsibility to cancel the subscription before the trial period ends or else they will charge you full price. If you want to make money with surveys for a long period of time, be sure to answer all the questions honestly and precisely or else your account may get banned from the survey websites.

The first step is to choose what your blog is going to be about. You should choose something you’re already passionate about so the whole process will be a lot easier. Once you’ve chosen what you blog is going to be about, you will need to get yourself some webhosting and a domain name. Make sure the domain name is the same name as the website and that is it short and easy to remember. For instance, if you’re going to start a website about Nokia phones, you might call it NokiaZone or some cheesy name like that.

Once you’ve set up your blog on WordPress (one-click with Fantastico), you just opened up a whole new can of worms. You’ve now entered the world of promotion, linkbuilding, and SEO. Yes, that all may sound scary but like I said, blogging isn’t exactly one of the easiest ways to earn money online. You need to produce high quality content so that you will get readers and might even decide to write a few guest posts on other websites. If you don’t feel comfortable with buying your own hosting or domain (come on, they’re just a few bucks, it’ll be worth it), then you can sign up at Blogger or WordPress.com. Though you cannot place any AdSense ads on WordPress, so I’d recommend choosing Blogger if you end up taking the free route.

There are lots of websites that offer you free internet marketing tools which you can use to promote your blog, and you should take advantage of them. This post is simply an introduction and is only teaching you the basics of how to make money blogging. There’s no official manual you can read to be set. People will share a few things, but not everything, which is why it’s up to you to search the Net for pages and websites that will give you tips on how to earn money online with your blog.

Those are the two easiest ways to make money online, even if you don’t have any skills with computers (you can write articles as a freelancer and make quite a bit of money every month). People complain that earning money online is too difficult since there is so much competition, but that couldn’t be any further from the truth. Anyone claiming that there is too much competition has either never tried or has not tried enough. Simple as that. Even in the most competitive niches in the world there is still room to do better and succeed. The truth is, most people already know how to earn money online, but what they really want is a silver platter with the silver bullet.

Most people don’t earn more than a few hundred dollars per year because they don’t know how to optimize their websites for AdSense and are clueless about pretty much everything to do with. They just sign up to the program and then stick up a few ads on their website and expect to retire. Things don’t work like that. If you really want to earn some decent cash with Google AdSense program, you’re going to need to work a bit. (Yes, I also hate that word but it really is only way to make money online.)

There are a few basic tips that should in theory increase you AdSense CTR quickly, but it’s really up to you to test out all the different layouts/colors/positions till you find the perfect one.

The other thing you need to pay attention to if you want to make money online with Google AdSense is that not all keywords are treated differently. If you’ve got a website about hairy koalas, then the clicks you get aren’t going to be worth as much as those that you get on your technology website. You can use Google’s Keyword tool to find out how much advertisers are willing to pay for their ads to appear on your website.

Finally, you can also earn money online with Google AdWords, but I’m not going to recommend that since I assume you’re just starting out and the worst thing you could is start spending money!

One of the most popular methods that thousands of people use to earn a full-time living online is selling some stuff on eBay. If you’re just looking for a bit of side income then that can easily be made by selling a few things you don’t need that are lying around your house. Though if you’d like to make a full-time living online selling things on eBay, you may want look into buying wholesale and into dropshipping which are the most well-known and straightforward methods of earning some decent profit with eBay.

Whenever someone asks me how to make money on the Internet, I tell them blogging. Blogging is one of the simplest ways of earning money online! If you’re passionate about something and have stuff to say about it, then just start a blog and start saying. Once you build a big enough audience you can put up AdSense ads or affiliate ads on your website and then make money from them. Tons of people have quite their jobs because there blogs became very successful and were able to give them the ability to become free from the whole job thing.

If you’re a designer and have pretty good knack for humor, then you can create funny shirts and sell them online. For the rest of you that really want it, go out there and start working.

If you are a teenager and have the ability to learn quickly and work hard, then instead of going to work at some fast food shop that will just take advantage of you, why not start your own online business? Many people under the age of 21 have become millionaires because they started early on in their life and were working hard while their friends were outside having fun. Working does eventually pay off even if it’s in the long run.

The first way teenagers can earn money is buy selling things on eBay and Craigslist. Ask your parents if they have anything lying around the house which they don’t need and if you could sell them on eBay or Craigslist. Tell your parents they’ll get a cut of the money you make and how it will help you learn good work ethic and all that.

You probably write a lot at school already, so why not use your writing skills and make money writing articles for other people. Like I’ve said a million times already, the web is driven by information which is mainly content, so if you have a knack for writing and can type quickly, then why not make a few hundred extra dollars per month from the comfort of your room. Ask any teenager and all of them will tell you they wouldn’t mind a few extra hundred $$$ every month.

If you have a camera and take awesome photos, then why not sell those photos online for money? Websites like iStockPhoto accept photos from all people and sell them and then give you a commission each time somebody buys your picture.

Love science, math, or any other subject? Well, lots of people are looking for tutors and if you prove to them that you can improve their grades, then you can be hired in no time. Unless you’ve got good grades yourself this isn’t really going to work for you.

There are many ways for teenagers to make money online as well which include freelancing, taking surveys, making websites, and a bunch of other methods. I’m not saying that every teenager out there should go ahead and quit his job in the real word to work online, but it really is an option!

These method won’t teach you how to make millions overnight, what they will do though is show you how to easily make a couple hundred bucks in one week by working. Yes, if you want to make money online fast (or slow), you will need to work you butt off. Despite what every single money making guru told you, making money online is not easy (if it was, everyone would be doing it). In fact, earning cash online will take more dedication then anything else you will most likely do in life. With work, you know you need to get up early every day to go to work you else you won’t get your paycheck. Online, it’s a whole different story. Nobody cares how long you sleep or what you do with your time, just as long as you get their work done. (And if you’re working for yourself, then your competitors will just take advantage of your laziness.)

You can either buy an old site and then sell it again after you’ve made some small changes and improved it, or you can start a new website, build a few links, throw up a custom design, write some content, and then sell it for $100-300. The problem with website flipping is that these past few months a lot of website flippers have popped up and so the competition has really increase. The other problem is that people are no longer willing to pay for new sites that aren’t making and revenue. Quality will still win. So if you can add just a simple tool to your website/blog that will make it stick out from the rest, then you will be able to sell it fairly quickly and reinvest your money into other projects.

Article writing the second method of making fast money online. The average price for articles is $5/500 word article. If you can write 3 five hundred word articles in an hour, then you will be able to make about $1,000/month by writing 9 articles every day. You could also outsource and make the money left over. Once you get a few people that like your services you can expect to get a lot of work every day and make more money every month.

The last way to make money online fast I’m going to list is selling MRR products. MRR products are usually eBooks that come with a sales page that you can use on your website to sell the report. Setting up a website with the sales page and payment button with usually just take a few minutes, after that you just need to write a few articles and then drive people towards your sales page to make a few bucks straight to your PayPal account. You can check out TradeBit for tons of MRR products ranging from eBooks to software.

Don’t expect to find some Internet marketing software that will help you make tons of cash online. Don’t join all the big gurus’ Internet marketing courses just so you can get access to their Internet marketing tools. Everything you need to know about making money online fast is available for free online if you’re willing to take a few days to search for it.

Because the Internet is so huge, there will always be opportunity. Most people will tell you otherwise, and will try to convince you that there is too much competition online. The only reason they’re telling you that is that they don’t want any competition themselves. Other “gurus” will tell you that unless you have years of experience under your belt, then making money from home online is impossible. The truth couldn’t be any further than that. Anyone that knows how to use a computer and knows how to perform basic tasks online can make money fast on the Internet. Certain skills and knowledge will help you do things a lot faster and more efficiently, but they’re not a must.

Huge companies like Amazon use affiliate marketing to create a win-win situation where everyone is happy. You can sign up for various affiliate programs and make a bit of cash by getting people to purchase things through your special affiliate link. For instance, if you friend is going to be buying a book from Amazon, you can give him your affiliate link and you will make money when he buys the book.

Selling on eBay/Craigslist: This is just like having a garage sale but online. Everyone has lots of useless things in their house than they don’t really need or ever use. You can put up that stuff for sale on Craigslist/eBay and make some cash. You can also purchase things wholesale and then sell them retail price on Craigslist or eBay. People easily make $1,000/month doing just this.

Your creativity also starts to deteriorate after spending hours at a time sitting behind your screen. But that’s a whole different topic, for now I’m more interested in how making money online can be detrimental to your health.

I personally suffer from constant neck and back pain, both which can be attributed to my computer activity. But isn’t just me, tens of thousands of people all around the world suffer from similar problems, all because they spend too much time on the computer.

The best way to reduce neck pain and back pain is to sit in an upright position (something I’m constantly reminded of but fail to adhere to) and to take a break every 45 minutes or so. It doesn’t have to be long, just five minutes to get up and stretch, go out side and get a breath of fresh air. Not only is this beneficial to your health, but it also helps keep you feeling fresh and vibrant with ideas.

The other problem many people start to face when starting to work online is that they get fat. At first it may not seem so obvious, but after a few months of being glued to your computer chair and losing touch with reality, you will slowly start to notice the pounds adding up when you look in the mirror. I mean, sure, making money online is great and everything, but when it gets to the point of drastically affecting your health, this is when you should consider your priorities over. For now, try exercising regularly (jogging in the morning is really helpful) and spending less time behind the screen of death. Instead of waiting a few months to start to learn how to lose weight if you can avoid becoming overweight in the first place?!

So have a break, go outside, and get some fresh air! Now!

Who is Michael Dunlop?

Michael Dunlop is one of those awesome young entrepreneurs you hear about every now and then that has blown away the blogohsphere with his amazing site: RetireAt21.com He has many other websites with the most popular being WebDesignDev and Retire at 21.

Michael has had the entrepreneurial spirit ever since he was 5. When his mother had asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up, he had answered that he wanted to have a large superstore like Walmart or Tesco. At age 16, Michael decided that he wanted to create a website, and so Retire At 21 was born!

I consider Retire at 21 to be a site each young (and old) blogger/entrepreneur should read when looking for inspiration and great content.

The idea - The main concept behind the site is to show you how young entrepreneurs have made it big online and how you can too. Browsing through the website will both inspire and motivate you while causing you to be jealous at the same time.

It is very inspirational to see how college dropouts turned themselves into millionaires using the power of the Internet. If that doesn’t make you get off your lazy butt and start working, then I don’t know what will!

The interviews - One of the things that Retire at 21 excels at where no other blog or website has, is its interviews section.

Michael has gone to great lengths to secure interviews with some of the biggest and most popular names on the net, here are some of interviews that really had me impressed!

The design - Michael’s site has a very clean and simple design that uses every available bit of space to showcase some of the site’s best work. The only piece of criticism I have regarding the design is that the eBook subscription box is way down at the bottom instead of being right at the top of the sidebar.

Everyone know how helpful eBooks can be in gaining subscribers, so I think that Michael should put the “About” box in the footer and move the subscription box to the top. I’m sure that will help him get many more subscribers.

The content – Not only does Retire at 21 have some inspirational interviews, but it also has a great blog with some extremely helpful posts. But one of things I love best about his website are all the awesome lists:

• No Grey Hair CEOs

While browsing some of the lists, I noticed that some of the information was incorrect since it’s outdated, so I think Michael should update the lists on the site to make them more accurate. Another thing I noticed when browsing the site, was that the “Directory” link at the top leads to a page with no apparent use – still under construction. I think if would be best if the link was removed till that page is sorted out.

A Bit of Constructive Criticism

There’s not much to criticize over at the site, Michael’s got pretty much everything sorted out properly. The only things I would say that he needs to check up is the “Directory” page subscription box.



If you check out the blog, you will probably notice that the posts don’t get as many comments as they should. I don’t know if that is because he doesn’t promote the blog that much, or because it isn’t directly on the front page. Another place I noticed there wasn’t much activity was the forums, perhaps he could get a few paid posters to start things off or have a contest.

Other than that, there’s pretty much nothing else to criticize with Retire at 21!

My Final Thoughts

Retire at 21 is definitely a great source for all young entrepreneurs that want to learn how young people are making it big online. It’s also a great resource for anyone looking for a bit of inspiration to start that project he’s always been putting off.

I would like to wish Michael success with all his current and future projects, I’m sure that his name will be on those million-dollar lists very soon!

Fun fact – I did a few calculations, and finally came up with the following:

If you were to live till you were 100-years old and wanted to retire at 21, then you would need at least 10 million dollars to live. (100 million to live comfortably.)

Once upon a time, good content was enough to ensure exposure to your site, that, however, is not the case nowadays.

What’s the point of composing the most amazing piece of writing if nobody’s ever going to know about it? Don’t get me wrong here, content will always be important, but if nobody knows about your masterpiece, then you’re better off not writing it in the first place.

Also, this is why video is becoming so popular.

Rajaie: I noticed that your blog has no advertisements, how do you monetize the traffic it gets?

Dean: I monetize my personal brand, so I go to events, use my name to launch products etc… we have been very slow on that recently, me and my biz partner (Barry Dunlop) are launching a membership site in the coming weeks, where people can get access to all the secrets, strategies and tips that we use to get millions of visitors. Rajaie: If you could give someone just starting out with the Internet some advice, what would it be?

Dean: Network like a rockstar. It is not who you know, but who knows you. So get out there and hustle.

Rajaie: What do you think is more important: writing for the search engines, or writing for real people?

Dean: The days of writing for search engines are long gone. Especially since the boom of online video. Write for people, get links, and you will rank in the search engines.

Rajaie: Tell us one true thing about yourself that nobody has ever heard before

Dean: At aged 20 I had a glass bottle go through my knee. I had to have rehab to learn to walk again.

Rajaie: Your blog is full of awesome posts that I have greatly enjoyed reading, any specific ones you’d like to tell us about?

Dean: There are too many to mention… But this recent post about going viral with low traffic websites was a good one I also suggest people download our free report, this spinning lady is kinda weird and this makes me laugh everytime.

Rajaie: You’ve recently been to Dubai, what are some of the other places you have traveled to? Anything you dislike about travel?

Dean: Dubai was great, I hung with all the other speakers, including Mike Filsaime and John Carlton. I have visited a lot of places across America, I think I enjoyed Los Angeles the most. The only part of travel I don’t like is the jet-lag.

Rajaie: Build it and they will come. Content is king. What is your personal stance on those two statements?

Dean: They are both wrong. You can build something great, but if nobody hears about it, they won’t visit. For example, you can create a great video, but if you don’t upload it to the net, nobody will ever see it.

As for “Content is king”. CREATIVE content is king…. content is generally boring, copied, and lame. Remember, there are 85 billion web pages on the net, you gotta stand out.

Rajaie: I’ve heard thousands of people say that social media traffic is useless. They come, they go, and they crash your blog. Oh yeah, they also don’t click any AdSense. What do you have to say about this?

Dean: In terms of directly monetizing the traffic, yes, it is pretty useless. BUT, indirectly, it is valuable. For example, some people may link to your content from their site, they may blog about you, they may submit your page to other sites like Digg. So they are valuable, just in a different way.

Rajaie: Is there you’d like to tell us about yourself that I haven’t asked yet? (We could do a series. Kidding.)

Interview With Dean Hunt – The Buzz Marketing Genius

I always thought it would be cool if someone could make a list with all the young bloggers of the Internet; I was even thinking of making one myself. Luckily, someone beat me to it (do you know how long it would’ve taken?), guess who?

Carl Ocab, of course! Probably one of the most famous kidbloggers around that knows how to make money online more than any of you do! Anyways, Carl was very kind as to let me know that he setup a new website that lists the top 100 young bloggers and sorts them using the usual factors (Technorati, Alexa, PageRank). To be honest, I’ve grown a bit tired of all these “top 100″ lists coming out every few weeks, but since I rank #2 on this list I thought I’d give it a mention.

If you check out the list, you’ll see that it shows each blogger’s name, age, and a link to his blog. Except, clicking the link to the blog won’t take you directly to the blog, but a page where you can review the blog and read more about it. I don’t know how successful the review feature will be, but no matter how many reviews you get, they won’t affect your rankings.

The list still hasn’t reached the 100 mark yet, but I’m sure once Carl does a bit of promoting it’ll be full in no time. If you’re a kid and have a blog/site, be sure to submit your it using the form here. If you aren’t under 18, but do know someone that is and blogs, you can lend a hand by submitting his blog for him.

One thing I think Carl should do is add the ability to sort blogs in the list by age, since most of the people that check the list out will be interested in seeing the youngest kid’s blog.

Overall I think it’s a great list that will help promote the young bloggers and motivate them into achieving more. The only that puzzles me is why Carl hasn’t added his own blogs yet – probably because it’ll top the list with ease

The Top 100 Youngest Bloggers of the Blogosphere

To be honest, blogging is probably the worst way to make money online. You need to have a lot of free time and dedication to run a successful blog, and as you’ve probably seen, many other bloggers have started to realize this and so they have really cut down on their posting. How to make money fast is one of those questions that almost everyone ask when they’re first starting out. The truth is, there is no one line answer to this; one fact that you must be aware of is that no newbie can make a fortune in a a few days. I mean, it took me more than 2 years to learn the good, the bad, and the ugly ways to make money online. So, if you’re in for a short time, you won’t make a fortune, but you could make a little money on the side.

There are only two recommendable ways to make money online in a short period of time, for now, I’ll just stick to affiliate marketing (which is one of those two ways). So if you want to make money online in a short time the best way would be to wet your hands in affiliate marketing. Why? Let me explain:

• Affiliate marketing is not time sensitive. By that I mean, you don’t have to wait for a long time before your AdSense websites or blogs make you any money.


• We’re not in for making millions here, So, even if you do not spend money on PPC advertising for affiliate marketing you can still make money.

I can see the puzzled look on your face after reading the second line. Yes, you heard it right! You can still make money if you don’t own a website or don’t want to spend money on PPC ads.

Below are just a few ways to make money with affiliate marketing without spending a cent on advertisements:

• Squidoo: Squidoo lens are known to be the most effective sales pitch for getting customers as compared to website or splash pages.


• Ezine Articles: Write a good article (otherwise don’t write it) that can attract traffic and put in your affiliate link to the product at the end of the article.


• Create free blogs on Blogger, optimize them for the search engines and convert the organic traffic to sales.

The list doesn’t end there, in fact there are a lot more methods you can implement to make money with affiliate marketing. The main reason I recommend affiliate marketing to newbies is that they can avoid the whole “Google Sandbox” thingy they would most probably face if they were to try and make money blogging or make extra money using other methods that take a while.

You also avoid getting banned by AdSense and other similar annoyances created by similar services. Affiliate marketing is clean because you’re the main manâ€"there is no boss over your head and rarely have I heard someone saying they got dumped by a CPA network.

If you still can’t make money online after implementing these tips, then I recommend you keep trying until you do get them to work (I’m sure they will).

The owner then tries to get as many people as possible to get through the systemâ€"hence a “money-making system” is bornâ€"as thousands of “marketers” like to refer to it.

Unfortunately, it’s easy to get “caught up” in one step of the process and forget about the other just-as-important step.

Traffic is Just Part of the Process

If the website is a motor, then visitors are the fuel. But if you’ve got a four-wheeler, it doesn’t matter what kind of fuel you use â€" you’ll never be able to go substantially faster without altering your engine.

Fuel is just part of the equation.

The same is true for traffic. Some popular bloggers have tens-of-thousands of visitors per day, but hardly make any income, comparatively speaking. Others, like myself, get only get a few thousand, but are able to convert that traffic into more income than many “rockstar” bloggers.

The reason for this is simple. My “conversion” rate of visitors-to-profit is higher. Because of that, I need less traffic.

Most of us realize this is true. For example, what niche would you rather get 5k visitors in per day, credit cards or bed-spreads?

The reason is that “credit cards” is a naturally high-paying niche. You can have less traffic than most niches, yet still make more money. Your engine is already high-powered, so your chances of going fast are much, much better.

But enough of the explanation of the theory â€" let’s move on to how you can make your blog’s “motor” more efficient.

Ways to Increase Your Conversion

This might sound a little disappointing, but when it all boils down, there aren’t many life-altering “secrets” to blogging for money. Most blogs that fail do so for pretty obvious reasons.

Bad monetization, lame content, bad SEO â€" most sites fail in at least one of these areas. And one failure is enough to cripple most blogs.

Fundamentally, when it comes to making money with a website, there are only two ways to go about it:

1. Increase Your Traffic


2. Increase Conversions

That’s it. Either put more into your machine, or make your machine better. That’s it. I won’t be talking about how to increase your traffic, but will list a few ways to research increasing conversions:

• Increase Website Usability

“Website usability” basically means “a website that does what it’s supposed to do.” Are your ads placed at the right place? Is your navigation bar on your right or left sidebar? Where do you put your images, if any?

Answering these questions correctly can actually increase your visitors’ time on your site by up to 20%, at least in my experience. To learn more about web usability, read 43 Web Design Mistakes You Should Avoid.

• In-Text Advertisements

To be honest, I have absolutely no idea why more people aren’t using advertising services like Kontera and Infolink. I use infolink and it currently earns an EPM (earnings per thousand impressions) that is almost what my AdSense EPM is.

If you do it correctly, expect to see another $3 per thousand impressions on your blog by using Infolink. This might not sound like much, but just a small increase in EPM can mean thousands in the long run.

Of course, they do make your blog feel a little more crowded. Still, if your content is compelling, it shouldn’t be a problem. I haven’t experienced any lack of traffic thus far.

• Search-Engine Ads

Showing advertisements specifically for search-engine traffic is a great way to increase you monetization without making your site seem “crowded” for your regular visitors. Chitika has taken this to an art.

Though the earnings vary depending on the niche, I experienced between a $2 and $3 EPM increase, without seeing my other ads lose any revenue at all. Again, though the earnings increase is small, over a long period of time, it’s really big. Plus, mixed with a few more earnings boosters, you can see a huge impact on your income.

• Utilize “Footers”

You can edit the template of your blog to put a small message at the end of every post/page of your blog. Don’t waste that area by leaving it blank or unfilled. An advertisement, a two paragraph “mini” sales pitch for a product, an opt-in form for subscriptions or your newsletter — find something to put there.

Daniel has a great example of the ultimate “Post Footer”, and uses it to collect subscriptions to his newsletter. That opt-in is where I originally signed up. If nothing else, utilizing your footer will increase your subscribers, increase your traffic and later add to your income.

• “Free” Affiliate Programs

A huge portion of internet traffic doesn’t spend money. They either don’t have a paypal account, don’t have their credit card handy, are super frugal — whatever the reason, a large part are very unlikely to spend money.

Typically, the only way most blogs monetize that traffic is through advertisements like AdSense. However, the best way is an affiliate program where you get paid per lead, rather than sale.

In the “make money online” niche, for example, “surveys” are an extremely popular affiliate program to pedal, mostly because the blogger can make money without their visitors having to spend a dime.

All in all, some of the most profitable affiliate programs I use are free “signup” programs. If there are any in your niche, make sure to utilize them — anything else is wasting otherwise useless traffic.

Conclusion and Last Thoughts

Monetization is one of the most important aspects of building a money-making blog. No duh, right? Still, it’s often the most screwed up concept that bloggers often get wrong. The above ways to make money with your website might not be fantastically new, but I’ll wager most blogs still don’t use them.

Information is useless if it isn’t acted upon. Don’t get up from the computer until you’ve found at least one way to increase the efficiency of your blog’s earnings.
